Useful Information

Broadmayne is a 5 minute drive from Donkey Down Camping at Culliford Tree and a little further from Donkey Down Campsite. The Black Dog Inn and village store and post office are situated in Broadmayne.

The Springhead pub, located in Sutton Poyntz is a 15 minute walk downhill from Donkey Down Campsite. The Bridge Inn and The Spiceship are in Preston, a 5 minute drive away.

There are also two fish and chip shops, a Co-op convenience store and a Spar shop in Preston.

At Chalbury Corner, there is the Chalbury Food and Wine Store which also accepts empty calor gas cylinders and sells full ones and a pharmacy which is open five days a week until 6 p.m. but not between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

The nearest supermarket is Home Bargains and a further 5 minutes is Sainsbury’s and Morrisons which have electric vehicle charging points. Across Weymouth is a 24 hour Asda store and in Weymouth Town, a number of car parks also have electric vehicle charging stations.

To the north on the way in to Dorchester is a 24 hour Tesco store.

The closest petrol stations are at Morrisons and Sainsbury’s, there is an additional BP garage on the Dorchester Road with a Marks and Spencer convenience store. There is also petrol at the Tesco in Dorchester.

The nearest hospital is Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester but there is also a Community Hospital in Weymouth which is open until 8 p.m. with appointments only available through 111.

Weymouth Beach is lifeguarded but others are not.
